AI Receptionist · Pest control

Wasps at the door are not a quarterly baiting callback.

Pest phones mix a nest over the front door with someone who missed a quarterly. Wildlife in the attic is not a German-roach interior. If those share a greeting, you either page for a bait station or you leave a family with wasps until Monday.

EXCEL captures interior vs exterior, what they think they saw, pets and kids in the home, and whether this is a one-time, wildlife, or quarterly. It does not name a species with confidence and it does not promise exclusion in one visit.

Hear an EXCEL receptionist. This demo will not identify a species or choose a chemical.

Meet Elliot.

Tell him what kind of business you run and hear how an EXCEL agent could handle a real customer conversation.

You’re testing Elliot from our Pest control example. Elliot is a demonstration receptionist — not a pre-built Pest control dispatcher. Your live system would be configured around your own workflows.

The quarterly list buries the nest on the doorbell

Recurring customers cannot skip a visit because a new infestation is arguing photos. Wildlife in an attic gets a German-roach script. Wasp nests at the door wait because the office is confirming baiting routes.

Interior, exterior, wildlife — then the product you actually sell

Interior infestation: which rooms, pets, kids, last service if they are a customer. Wasps / hornets: location, doorway vs eaves. Rodents: interior vs garage. Wildlife: attic / chimney — often a different license and a different truck. Quarterly: account lookup, not a new sales pitch.

Pest calls that need different trucks

  • “There is a nest over the front door.”

Exterior, doorway, kids using it. Same-day if you run that. Not a quarterly upsell.

  • “We have something in the attic at night.”

Wildlife vs rodent. Exclusion is a process. Do not promise a one-visit catch.

  • “I missed my quarterly. Can you still come Thursday?”

Account work. Route already exists. Do not restart as a new lead.

What a technician needs before the route changes

  • Inside or outside

Changes product and chemical rules you already follow.

  • What they think they saw

Their words. Not a species ID from a phone photo.

  • Pets and kids

You already have re-entry rules. Capture, do not invent chemistry.

  • Existing customer

Quarterly vs new. Wildlife may be a different agreement.

Hypothetical: wasps at the doorbell, Saturday

Hypothetical. Not a species identification and not a pesticide label.

Homeowner
There is a nest right above the front door. Kids cannot go out. We also have a dog. Can you come today?
Receptionist (configured)
I will take this as an exterior nest at an entry, not a quarterly interior service. Are the wasps active right now, and is the nest on the house or in the ground?
Homeowner
On the siding, very active. What will you spray around the dog?
Receptionist (configured)
I will not name a product or a species on this call. I will record doorway nest, kids, dog on site, Saturday request, and follow your same-day wasp rules if you have them.

Baiting, exclusion, and wildlife are different products. The agent should not collapse them into ‘pest.’

Pest hard stops

  • Identify a species from a photo as if it were a lab
  • Name a chemical, a re-entry time, or a ‘safe around kids’ claim you did not write
  • Promise one-visit wildlife exclusion
  • Treat a quarterly skip like a new infestation sale
  • Offer a DIY mix

Nests at the door after dark

Doorway wasps and interior rodents in a bedroom may be next-available, not midnight, unless you run true emergency routes. Wildlife in walls can wait for a licensed visit. Quarterly skips are morning office work.

Pest configuration

  • Interior vs exterior vs wildlife as separate products
  • Same-day wasp rules
  • Pet and kid questions you want asked
  • How quarterly accounts are found
  • What you will not treat (bed bugs, wildlife) if that is true

Technicians still own the label

Anything that needs a product decision, wildlife live-trap laws, a nest you cannot reach, angry recurring customers.

Questions for this workflow

Will it tell us what kind of pest it is?

It records what they think they saw. Identification stays with a technician.

Can it say which spray is safe around kids?

No. Re-entry and product choices are yours, said by a person or a label — not improvised.

Is wildlife the same as pest service?

Often a different license and truck. Put that in knowledge. Do not let the agent collapse it.

Do quarterly customers need a new quote?

Usually no. Look up the account and change the visit.

Will it promise the nest is gone in one trip?

Only if you wrote that. Exclusion and baiting are processes.

Will it identify the pest?

It can ask what the caller saw. Identification and treatment stay with technicians.

Will it transfer a caller to a person?

Yes. Routing and escalation rules are defined with you. Anything outside approved scope can go to a person, a voicemail workflow, or a callback request.

Does it use a generic script?

No. EXCEL systems are built around the company’s services, hours, service area, and approved answers — not a one-size-fits-all call-center script.

Bring one wasp-at-the-door voicemail and one quarterly skip that became a new-lead pitch. That split is the desk.
